'Effective Lesson Observation' Workshop

Officers from JKSS (Jabatan Kenaziran Sekolah-Sekolah) were invited to give a workshop on 'Effective Lesson Observation' on Wednesday, 29th March 2012 at the Conference Room of SMPJNPHAB, KB. The Principal, DPs, SMs, HODs, AHODs and mentoring teachers attended the workshop whereby Alias Stipic presented and shared 'Strategies for evaluating teaching and learning'. Also present were JKSS officers Hjh Zaharah Abdullah, Muhd Rasidi Hj Sulaiman, Ali @ Mustapha Hj Talip, Khairol Azri Hj Md Kassim, Chin Shao Meng and Ahmad Fadzillah Hanafiah.

The workshop was very informative and gave clear guidelines to expectations in terms of duties and responsibilities.

Deadline: Monday, 1 November 2010

Students have the choice to:

1) Write a REVIEW of a book they have read.

Recommended: write at least 3 paragraphs (200+ words) on the story (what happens), the characters (describe 2 or 3) and the reasons why they chose the book.

2) Produce a BOOK COVER (front & back), to include title, author's name, a brief summary and pictures. An A4 piece of paper can be folded in half.

Either tasks can be handwritten or produced on computer - but MUST be original.

CDD Visit to SMPJNPHAB

Four officers from the Curriculum Development department made a working visit to SMPJNPHAB, Mumong yesterday, Tuesday (11 May 2010). Several lessons were observed and a feedback and dialogue session was carried out after lunch.

The English department in PJN was fortunate to obtain many constructive feedback from the officers to improve the quality of teaching and learning. Written records of students' reading progress was one of the few suggestions provided by the officers to monitor improvements made by students in the Reading Intervention programme, while the sharing of resources amongst teachers was another key point encouraged by the officers.

Teaching Writing Through Text Types for Secondary English Language Teachers

All local teachers have been selected to attend the sharing session on 'Teaching writing through text types'. The initial workshop was presented by Dr Jennifer Tan from RELC, Singapore over a duration of one week at IPA, Rimba.

The workshop was attended by Wong Yean from SMPJNPHAB, Mumong who is one of the facilitators for the Belait district sharing session at SMPAP Rashidah, Lumut in the afternoons of 25th, 26th, 28th and 30th January 2010. Three other facilitators are Muhamad Rosleni bin Jainani (SMPW, Kuala Belait), Azean bte Hj Masri (AAC, Seria) and Milah bte Malik (SMSO, Bukit Beruang).

Coordinators for the sharing sessions are Hjh Lena (JSS) and Hjh Seri Ainey (JSS/STRPRI)

Lower Secondary English Language Subject Committee Meeting II for 2009

Please be informed that the above meeting will be held as follows:

It needs to be highlighted that teachers present at the meeting are responsible for disseminating information/matters discussed in the meeting to other teachers in the English department.
It is very important that a report of this dissemination should be given to the Subject Based Committee for LSEL (SM Berakas). The compiled reports will then be submitted to the Urusetia Jawatankuasa Perlaksanaan SPN 21.

Please be informed that our HOD, Andrew, will be away for vacation on 15, 22 and 29 April 2009... Oops! ;) Sorry Andrew! :) He'll be out for oral exams on the mentioned dates.

SCOPE Workshop 2009 Session 1 - Target Setting

The first SCOPE Workshop (Target Setting by Wayne) that was postponed earlier has been rescheduled to Wednesday, 22 April 2009. The workshop will take place as usual in the Conference Room at 2.15pm.

Attendees and duties will be the same as the earlier workshop and will remain the same for the year. Modana and Zaidie will take turns on alternate workshops in the set up of audio and visual equipment required for the workshop.
